Know when a commercial relationship is involved.
Sponsored content
Paid articles, company features and other commercial placements are identified with a sponsorship label or disclosure. A sponsored feature represents a commercial relationship; it should not be mistaken for independent testing or an endorsement of every claim made by the advertiser.
Affiliate links
Where an article uses an affiliate link, a purchase or other qualifying action may result in a commission to the publication. A relevant disclosure should appear with that content. Check the seller’s current price, conditions and return policy before buying.
Products and other relationships
Review articles should disclose material relationships such as a supplied review unit, loan product or paid collaboration. Editorial assessments should explain the basis for their conclusions, including whether hands-on testing took place.
Advertising links and claims
Paid links are qualified as sponsored or otherwise appropriately marked. Advertisers remain responsible for supplying accurate information, while proposed content remains subject to editorial review. Advertising is not a promise of performance, availability or suitability for a particular reader.
